Angelina Jolie says she plans to give up acting after a "few more" films and switch her focus to directing

Hollywood A-lister Angelina Jolie says she plans to give up acting after a "few more" films and switch her focus to directing.

Angelina walked the red carpet in Sydney with husband Brad Pitt this week at the premiere of her new movie, World War II epic Unbroken, which was filmed in Australia.

It was her second foray behind the camera after the critically-acclaimed In the Land of Blood and Honey in 2011 and she said directing was now her passion and where she saw the future.

"I'll do a few more, but I'll be happy to let that all go at some point," she told the Sydney Morning Herald of acting, in comments published online Thursday.

"I love directing, I'm much happier directing," added the 39-year-old.


"I like following a project all the way through. I like spending two years on something and learning about it. I like being pushed mentally to have to learn so much and be a part of every single aspect of a production."

She separately told The Australian newspaper that "unless I'm sure there's a role or something I should do or (that) really means something to me, I'd rather be spending my time telling stories from behind the camera".

Angelina's new movie is based on the true story of a US Olympic athlete turned Japanese prisoner of war, Louis Zamperini, who competed in the 5,000m at the 1936 Games in Berlin before becoming a bombardier in World War II.

When his plane crashed over the South Pacific, he spent 47 days adrift on a raft with a crewmate before being captured by Japanese soldiers in the Marshall Islands.

He was held in a prisoner of war camp for more than two years, enduring beatings and torture, before his return home.

Angelina, who has been acting since she was a child, said her preference for being behind the camera did not mean she thought any less of acting or actors.

"I love actors, I love watching actors work, and I like to shine a light on them. I actually prefer it when it's not me," she told the Herald.

Since wrapping up Unbroken, she has directed both herself and Brad in the yet to be released By the Sea, of which little is known.

"To direct myself was hard, to direct him (Brad Pitt) was a challenge and to be in the scenes with him doing very heavy, heavy drama was difficult," she told The Australian.

"But it was also a great pleasure for us both to bust out of our comfort zones and just get back to being actors who work and fight through scenes and figure it out, and not be safe and not be sure and try and push."

The last time they appeared on screen together was in Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005, during which they fell in love.

Mr Schwarzenegger said: "It was all out war. We hated each other, we wanted to outdo each in every way - ho has the most muscles, who has the least body fat, who kills more people on screen, who kills them in the more unique way, who makes more money in the box office. And then after 10 years,, in the Nineties, we became friends. Now we make films together."

Mr Schwarzenegger also spoke at length about how difficult it was for him to become an actor when he first arrived in America decades ago, an Austrian bodybuilder with an accent that made him "talk like a machine." He was told that he could never be a leading man. "Al Pacino and Woody Allen were the sex symbols. People wanted to hear John Wayne speak," he said.


He also lost the Mr Universe competition that brought him to the US to begin with: "When I came to the US in 1968, I was beaten in the Mr Universe in Miami Florida. I cried all night. I was 21."

As The Terminator, he famously said on screen, "I'll be back." In real life, he came back with a vengeance and continued to. "Eventually, I got back again and I thought I'm in America to beat all the body-builders. I moved to California - trained with American body builders and beat them at their own game," Arnold Schwarzenegger said. "I've had many failures. What makes you a winner is when you fail but you get up again and dust yourself off," he added.

Mr Schwarzenegger, who served two terms as Governor of California, said that "it was very hard work but a joy to serve."

"Don't be afraid to fail. Don't take the short cut. Don't listen to naysayers," was the actor-politician's advice. To young people leaving college, he said: "have a vision, don't listen to your parents, culture, mentors; enjoy your career."

There was only one way the session could have ended. "I've come to India so many times for so many reasons. I love coming to India. I'LL BE BACK," said The Terminator to thunderous applause.

Designed to highlight some of the company's lesser known projects, the exhibit will feature cars such as the 984 which was envisioned as a small and relatively inexpensive sports car that would appeal to younger buyers.

The one-off claw-equipped Sorento has been created to promote the upcoming Blu-Ray and DVD release of promote X-Men: Days of Future Past. The car will make its public debut on January 19 at Melbourne Park and will be showcased until February 1 but Kia plans on bringing it to major international auto shows later in 2015.

HTC Desire 820s Receives Over 1.26 Million Pre-Orders in China: Report

HTC China on Wednesday announced that pre-orders for the HTC Desire 820s smartphone in the country had topped 1.26 million.The company took to Chinese social network Qzone, saying that more than 1.26 million pre-orders were received as of 6:30pm on Wednesday. Earlier the company had said that only 50,000 units of the HTC Desire 820s will be available when online sales open, reports Focus Taiwan.
The HTC Desire 820s is a variant of the Desire 820 launched by the company in September. The smartphone seems to be meant for China market only, as there is no official word on its release in other regions. HTC had announced the Desire 820s via its Weibo account earlier this month.
